Mimi’s Journey to 40!

JOY – A state of happiness or bliss.

As I countdown the months, days, hours, minutes to the GRAND 40! I realized I have been so busy “living” that I haven’t really taken time to experience JOY; TRUE JOY! So, going forward I’ve decided to not just go through the motions, but actually take time to enjoy life fully and allow myself to live a LIFE OF JOY!

I can’t think of a better way to do that, than spend more time with people I love; and do more of the things that bring me joy.

Have you made time for the people you love, and things that make you happy?

I am open to hearing your “JOY” ideas! Drop them in the comments below.

VEGAS OR BUST!

Vegas, at 39!

Friday, June 1st, I boarded United flight 1129 and left all my worries and cares behind for a quick trip to Las Vegas. This was my first trip to Vegas; YES! I experienced Las Vegas for the first time, as a 39 year old.

I arrived at McCarran Airport, picked up my luggage, and met my friend Dee. I was hype and ready for (in my mind) a weekend of non-stop partying. We quickly grabbed a cab and were off to LINQ HOTEL to drop our bags and hit the town.

(RUNDOWN of how I spent my days in Vegas, with a few pics.)

Vegas – Day 1

Wax Figures and Walking

Friday, after we freshened up and changed clothes, we hit the Las Vegas Strip. Our first stop was Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. We purchased our libations, and took the escalator up to start the tour. Will Smith, Samuel Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Snoop Dogg and many others were on display; but the highlight for me, was the wax figure of TUPAC (my husband).

Side note:Each time I go to a wax museum it absolutely creeps me out how lifelike these wax figures are. It’s looks like they come alive at night. (like “Night at the Museum”)

The rest of our Friday evening was spent walking the strip, exploring Grand Canal Shoppes (a 500,000 square foot mall) and we ended the night with dinner at Ra Sushi (yum).

Vegas – Day 2

The turn up is real?

Saturday, our day began with brunch and bottomless mimosas at HEXX Kitchen and Bar. We thought we had a celebrity sighting (James Corden – Car Karoake), but it was a false alarm. After brunch, we did a little shopping, then back to the hotel to get ready for Frank Marino’s DIVAS.

About the Show:

DIVAS – This show was AMAZING! The cast of female impersonators performed (in true DIVA fashion) all of the best hits from Tina Turner, Cher, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston to name a few. Frank Marino is so funny, he literally had the audience laughing before and in-between each set. On a 10 point scale, I’d give it a 10! I highly recommend it, and the bonus is, if you are staying in LINQ HOTEL it’s right in the hotel on the 3rd floor.

Later that evening we put our walking shoes back on to enjoy a nice dinner. Imagine my excitement when we ran across NOBU. Now, to be honest the only time I’ve heard of NOBU is in a 2CHAINZ song, but hey! If it’s good enough for 2 CHAINZ, it will work for me. The ambience, service and food were all 5 ⭐️ stars.

NOBU is where Vegas – Day 2 ended, because when we made it back to the room… we were sleep by 9:30p.m. (I’m not old)

Vegas is a PARTY city, and is something I wish I would’ve done in my 20’s. Overall this was a relaxing getaway and I can now say, I’ve experienced VEGAS!

Making Magic from your Closet

I love to shop and find new outfits, but yesterday I decided to shop in my closet! Yes, my own closet! I must say,  I was able to create NEW OUTFIT MAGIC! …….Let me explain.

I took some of my denim jeans (that have been hanging in the closet untouched for a while) and with the snip of the scissors turned them into denim shorts. My long kimono, is actually a maxi dress that has been cut down the middle. Paired these items with a brown belt and off the shoulder bodysuit, and can you say…NEW OUTFIT ALERT!

You don’t always have to go to the store to get something new, check out what’s hanging in your closet (that you probably haven’t worn in a while) and make some NEW OUTFIT MAGIC!

Fashion on the Go

Packing for travel can sometimes cause a bit of anxiety; especially when you’ve got a variety of activities to do, and places to go. I’ve compiled a list of “Packing Do’s” to help with your Fashion on the Go!

Fashionably Mimi Packing Tips

Tip 1– Lay out your choice of clothing and shoes, this makes that dreaded suitcase task a lot easier.

Tip 2– Pack shoes that will match multiple outfits

Tip 3– Pack clothes that can be rolled up and doesn’t wrinkle easily

Tip 4– Map out your entire stay, and pack pieces that you can mix and match

These tips were extremely helpful for me this past weekend; because I traveled to Wine Country (Napa Valley) to celebrate my 38th birthday. I was able to create new looks, and still have room in my suitcase to bring back souvenirs.

Check out a few of my favorite “Fashion On The Go” looks below.

Flaunting, Fierce, Fashion!

Shout out to all the Pisces! It’s our time to shine, and by shine I mean SERVE FIERCE FASHION! Being a Pisces is all about DRAMATIC, EXAGGERATED, PASSION; and I am counting the days to March 16th! Why, you ask? Well, this year I’ll be 38, and I am living my life like it’s a “ONE TIME OFFER” (because it is).

This weekend I scheduled a photo session with Tawana Cox of ETC Studios to kick off the month of March and celebrate… ME! The theme of the shoot, was Bold and Beautiful and I DID NOT come to play! I wanted something that was eye-catching and Fashionably Fierce.

The Harrisburg Art Museum (HAM) was the perfect backdrop, and I couldn’t be more happy to share a few of the pics from my shoot. Let me know what you think.
